Information
Written off during 1992 Belgian Grand Prix practice, Erik Comas crashed his car and was knocked unconscious. Ayrton Senna stopped by on track to turned off Comas' engine, which was still revving, to stop a potential fire. Senna also helped medical assistance to rescue Comas. Comas credited Senna with saving his life.
At 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, after Senna's fatal accident, Comas was accidentally sent to track from pitlane while the race was red flagged and the marshals were rescuing Senna. Comas almost crashed into the site, and witnessed the horrifying scene of his saviour. Deeply shocked and saddened, Comas retired from the race, and kept what he saw as a secret for more than 10 years.
