Information
Original Miura Jota built by Bob Wallace around Miura SV chassis.Constructed by development engineer and Lamborghini chief test driver, Bob Wallace. It was completed in October 1970 and went on to rack up around 20,000km of test mileage. After the appendix J racing class it was designed for, the racing Miura was more powerful and much lighter than the road cars. The car did not meet the required regulations and therefore it never took part in races.
Later sold by the InterAuto dealership in Brescia (they received the car on April 12th 1971) to Dr. Alfredo Belponer (owner and president of the Scuderia Brescia Corse racing team).
Before he took delivery, it was destroyed when one of the InterAuto mechanics crashed it on the brand new and still unopened Brescia ring road. It barrel rolled into a field and caught fire. Only its engine was salvaged. The rest was scrapped. By this time, many important customers had seen remains of the car wreck at the factory, although Lamborghini refused to build any additional examples and instead they constructed a small batch of Jota-inspired Miura SV/Js which were later followed by Miura SV/R.
