Information
One of three XJR15 finished in Bright Yellow.
Only road specification XJR-15 made with 6-speed straight-cut Hewland race-spec transaxle.
In 2005 Yoshimasa Hayashi of Tokai University, a former engineer at Nismo, bought this car as a test mule for his Le Mans project. He wanted to develop a hybrid system, EER-Hybrid, basically the same function as today's MGU-H, and build an Le Mans prototype with it. He and his students took the original engine away, put a YR40T race engine in, and fitted their own hybrid system, also some bodywork modifications were done. The team tested the car at SUGO and it ran well. Due to lack of funds, the plan of building an LMP was cancelled. So they bought a Courage LC70 and ran it at 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans and later Asian races of ILMC. The team members were mostly students, despite the bad results, this is still a brave move and interesting story.
Later the car was bough by Bespoke Motorcars and restored to original spec.
