In July 2022, the police were called to a gas station when the passenger called law enforcement for assistance. The officers smelled cannabis in the car and the driver was intoxicated. Based on those observations, the police decided to search the car where they found fentanyl, the bill of sale, among other things. The driver admitted that all the substances in the car were hers and was arrested and charged with manufacturing/delivery, trafficking, and possession of a controlled substance. In December 2022, the Government filed a Verified Complaint for Forfeiture due to the cars use to 'facilitate the transportation, sale, receipt, possession, or concealment of a controlled substance which has been manufactured, distributed, dispensed or acquired in violation of the Controlled Substances Act'. The forfeiture was paused while there was another criminal case regarding the driver and owner of the car. In July 2024, the pause of the forfeiture was lifted and the car was seized by the government. The car remains in government custody as of May 2025.
