Information
Originally an RA106 spare chassis, rebuilt in 2008 as RA1082, a hybrid test mule with an advanced KERS system for upcoming 2009 season. It was the first hybrid F1 in modern era, since McLaren's banned attempt in 1998. The car was modified with special parts (most obviously the roll bar which formed the shape of air intake) and repainted in RA108 livery during tests in 2008. The hybrid system could increase the performance but it was not endurable. By the end of 2008, Honda withdrew from F1 and the project was abandoned.
Later the car was used for commercial promotion. In 2009 it was auctioned by Bonhams as an 'RA107 showcar'. Later repainted in Mercedes W02/03 livery and continued to race by KDM Racing. Currently restored to 'original' RA108 livery.
