Information
Ferrari Classiche Certified.
Imported into Malaysia in 1993, it was one of the first F40s to arrive on Malaysian soil.
In April 2001, while under Mahathir's ownership, the car was involved in a crash on the Federal Highway towards Subang Airport.
At the time of the accident, a mechanic was behind the wheel, conducting a test drive after performing repairs on damage sustained during a prior crash at the Batu Tiga Speedway.
It was alleged that the mechanic was driving at speeds exceeding 180 km/h on a wet public highway when he lost control, causing the car to spin and meet its untimely end against a palm tree on the highway divider.
Following the crash, the wreckage sat for 5 years before being sent back to the factory for a complete rebuild. Rumors suggest that the total cost of the rebuild exceeded RM 1 million.
The odometer was most likely reset by the factory as it is now showing 161 kms.
