Information
Lexan sliding windows.
Most notable for it's participation in the 1994 Cannonball Run where just 30 minutes outside of Alice Springs, at speeds over 200 km/h driver (Akihiro Kawanabe) overtook competing drivers, clipped gravel on the side of the road under breaking, lost control, and crashed into a parked Jeep at speed with enough force to move it two metres into a Commodore sitting alongside
Kawanabe was killed in the impact, likely banging heads with his co-driver Takeshi Okano, along with two Cannonball Run marshalls
Okano passed only minutes after the impact.
This event was the worst crash in Australian Motorsport history
Only days before the crash Kawanabe managed to take the car over 280 km/h on the Cannonball Run
The car was returned to Japan post Cannonball Run, and was completely rebuilt, and sold to it's second (and current) owner in September 2008
Inner door signed by Australian Motorsport icon Allan Moffat reading 'To my friend Kabe San - good luck always'
