Information
750 Monza Spider Scaglietti S1.
Originally delivered Rosso.
Repainted Verde with Arancio nose in late 50's by second owner - Ken Wharton.
Repainted Rosso in 1957.
Involved in a fatal accident in 1957 whilst competing in the New Zealand GP, Ardmore, the car rolled, seriously injuring second owner - Ken Wharton.
Wharton later passed as result of head injuries sustained from the impact.
The car was purchased as a wreck by Aucklander - Ken Harris and rebuilt to race condition.
As the Ferrari engine failed in the early 60's a Chevrolet (Corvette) V8 4600cc was swapped in, for competition usage.
The engine was removed by it's last owner - Len Southward, where he had the car as an unrestored, empty shell on display at his motor museum in Paraparaumu, NZ.
Complete restoration undertaken in 2006.
On long term display at the Southward Car Museum.
