Information
Allowing Berger to escape from a high-speed crash into a wall in 1989 San Marino Grand Prix with only minor burns to his hands and a couple of broken ribs. Berger s 640, s/n 107, with full tanks, exploded in a fireball and Berger was briefly knocked unconscious, but recovered, missing only the following Monaco GP. Following Berger s crash the FIA ruled that in 1990 all cars would have a larger cockpit and a quick-release steering wheel.
