Information
During the 1989 Portuguese Grand Prix, which was held on September 24th. Nigel Mansell started 3rd OA and started to gain positions. On lap 35, when he did pitstop, he missed his pit box as entered slightly too fast. He drove in reverse back into his pitbox (which is illegal) so was DSQed for that action. However, he ignored the Black Flag and kept running. On Lap 48 he tried to overtake Senna for the inside but both made contact, retiring from the race. Mansell was fined with $50,000 and banned from participate at the 1989 Spanish Grand Prix. He came back for the 1989 Japanese Grand Prix.
