Information
This Ferrari was delivered new to Argentian Olympic medallist Carlos Enrique Díaz Sáenz Valiente, painted Blu with Giallo stripes. During the 1954 1000km Buenos Aires, it rolled and was subsequently repaired and repainted Rosso with a Nero bonnet and Bianco nose. It participated in more races across Argentina (winning the 1954 championship) until Valiente sold the car to make space for a new 375 Plus. The buyers were Cesar Rivero and Raul Najurieta, who continued the car's success by winning the 1955 championship. In 1957, Rivero crashed the car into a tree and fitted it with a V8 engine for street use.
The Ferrari fell off the radar until 1983, when it was discovered in derelict condition in Montevideo, Uruguay. It was shipped to Italy and purchased by Count Vittorio Zanon di Valgiurata, who commissioned a restoration using a 375 MM engine (no. 0376) by Novajra & Conrero in Torino. Valgiurata then drove the car in the 1987 Mille Miglia Storica, before selling it to noted Swiss collector Giorgio Perfetti the following year.
Subsequently, the car passed through the hands of many of the world's premier Ferrari collectors, including Yoshiyuki Hayashi, Yoshiho Matsuda and Chris Cox. Coming onto the market in 1999, it was purchased by Cavallino Holdings of Seattle, Washington, and then fellow American Tom Shaughnessy. In recent years, the Ferrari was restored and certified by Ferrari Classiche.
