Information
Alloy body.
Crashed in a head-on collision on the 5th of September, 1967 on the Hume Highway, north of Gunning, NSW. The accident killed driver Peter David, along with his passenger and newly-wedded wife, Kaye Whiteford, as they were returning home to Melbourne from their honeymoon.
The accident being so severe to the car, that the entire bodywork was noted as destroyed, and the steering wheel bent from the accident, cause of the accident is believed to be related to the original owner cutting corners and fitting poor quality tyres.
The wrecked car was purchased by Sydney based mechanic, Les Miller, who subsequently rebuilt and re-bodied the car in a 250 TR style, although ADR regulations (including headlight height) pushed many aspects of car design and resulted in the homogenous design it resulted in.
The remains of the original bodywork were stored and displayed on Miller's North Sydney workshop for years.
