Information

Chassis 09021 holds the distinction of being the first production Ferrari 275 GTB/4, following a single prototype built earlier in 1966. It was completed in September of that year and delivered in the elegant combination of Rosso Rubino over Beige leather. The car was consigned to Franco-Britannic Motors, Ferrari’s official importer in Paris, and selected to debut the 275 GTB/4 at the 1966 Paris Salon de l’Automobile. At this prestigious event, it was presented under the name 275 GTB/4A, referencing the four camshafts in Italian ( quattro alberi a camme ).

Following its public appearance, the car was registered in Paris under the plate 1688 TN 75 and used as a factory demonstrator. It played a key role in the homologation process with the French authorities, the Service des Mines, where it was presented as a prototype for technical approval. It was also featured in period French motoring media, most notably in a road test published by Sport Auto in June 1967.

Later that year, chassis 09021 was sold to its first private owner, the renowned fashion designer Charles Jourdan, who registered it in the Drôme region with the plate 444 JZ 26. Two years later, on 8 October 1969, it was sold through Charles Pozzi to Marcel Petitjean, a racing driver and collector based in Strasbourg. The car was then registered 8891 QG 67 and incorporated into Petitjean’s growing collection, where it would remain for over five decades.

The car saw regular use in its early years under Petitjean’s ownership, often driven to racing circuits and events. It was later stored as part of his private collection and museum, remaining preserved for decades before being offered for public sale for the first time in 2022.

Modifications

In the early 1970s, following a spark plug issue, the engine of chassis 09021 underwent a rebuild by Ferrari’s Assistenza Clienti in Modena, under the supervision of Franco Gozzi and Gaetano Florini. During this process, competition pistons were installed.

Around the same time, a set of prototype Delta-Mics wheels was mounted on the car as part of a collaboration between Marcel Petitjean and the wheel manufacturer, who were exploring entry into the Ferrari market. These wheels remained on the vehicle for several years.

The car was also fitted with a replacement transaxle at a later stage in its life.

Additionally, parts of the leather seat bolsters were replaced in black.
