Information
One of two Dome Toyota 86C.
Two other Toyota 86C were built but using Tom's chassis, not Dome.
The Dome 86C is a Group C prototype race car developed for Toyota in 1986, as part of their participation in the World Sportscar Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was designed and built by Dome Co. Ltd, a Japanese company specializing in race car chassis construction. The car was powered by Toyota’s 4T-GTE engine, a 2.1-liter turbocharged inline-four. Unlike the Toyota 86C built by Tom’s in the same year, the Dome 86C represented a parallel development approach while waiting for a fully in-house Toyota prototype in the following seasons. It served as a test platform to refine design and performance for Toyota’s future endurance efforts.
