Dodge Viper GTS-R Competition
The Dodge Viper GTS-R Competition came out 10 years after the first concept of the Viper, so the GTS-R Comp was meant to continue the Viper's V10 legacy. Osamu Shikado was put in charge of the project and said, 'We gave the body a strong profile with a higher belt line, dramatic side gill, ‘bump-up’ rear fender shape, and a more defined side crease. Seen from above, the race-inspired front-to-rear stripe is now tapered for a more dynamic appearance.'. These came in as the car being 3' lower and 2' wider than the production Viper at the time. The changes were made to make the most striking viper, and some of these design cues were used as inspiration for the 2003 facelift.
While most concepts are not made to be driven on the road, the Dodge Viper GTS-R Competition was made as a fully formed, running, driving car. It was produced with all the features, including but not limited to adjustable pedals, air conditioning, and a premium sound system. As cool as it is, only one was made because it was meant to show what they could do in a compilation setting and was never meant to be in full production. It is currently held in the Stellantis private collection.
