Information
The car's first buyer, Rosendo Cruz, purchased the car as a gift to his wife. On the evening of 7 December 1974, while they were at a restaurant, the car was stolen and buried in the mud outside a house at 1137 W. 119th St. in the West Athens section of Los Angeles. In 1978 the car was reported by an informant and found by a small team and local Sheriffs.
According to an interview with Joe Sabas and Lenny Carroll, the Sheriffs, it was an insurance fraud orchestrated by R. Cruz. He hired a team to steal the car and destroy it. However, the criminals couldn't destroy the car because they found it so beautiful and finally buried it at home to recover it later, which they never did. As proof of the destruction, they cut out the ‘Dino’ logo with a torch for the owner, who was reimbursed by the insurance company.
Finally, the car was unearthed in 1978 and bought by the current owner, who had it fully restored to its original configuration.
