The DeltaWing LM12 is a race prototype developed to compete unclassified in the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans, within the experimental Garage 56 category. Designed by Ben Bowlby with support from Nissan and operated by Highcroft Racing, it featured an unconventional aerodynamic layout with a very narrow front track and a wide rear, aimed at reducing drag, weight, and fuel consumption. The car was powered by a 1.6L turbocharged Nissan 4-cylinder engine producing approximately 300 horsepower. Its chassis was built by Élan Motorsports Technologies. The DeltaWing retired from the race after a accident.
Following the 2012 season, the car and concept were taken over by Don Panoz, who continued development through his company DeltaWing Racing Cars. Under Panoz’s direction, the DeltaWing evolved into a coupe version that competed in the IMSA series, and the original LM12 chassis was preserved and remains stored at Panoz's facilities in Braselton, Georgia.
