Chevy K5 Blazer Concept (GMT800)
The K5 Blazer name was used on three different generations of the Blazer with it being mostly associated with the squarebody from 1969-94. With this K5 blazer they were thinking of bringing back the name for an affordable off roader based off of the 2 door tahoe chassis. This concept featured 4 doors with rear, aircraft style, suicide doors for improved accessability for the rear seats. They would open a full 180 degrees with no B pillar between the doors. The rear seats would also fold down to open up the small bed to be a full 6ft (1.8 m) long truck bed.
The whole package was made with an offroad state of mind with fog lights, exposed tow hooks, nickel colored grille, and even wide body fenders to cover the 18in budnik wheels. While the exterior was rugged the interior was made to be luxurious with leather seats, OnStar with voice calling and navigation, carbon fiber trim, and even a removable carbon fiber roof for an open air experience.
Powering all this was a Chevy 6L V8 making 440 hp and 540 lb-ft of torque. It featured upgraded parts with LS1 heads, forged pistons, and more. All of the power went to all 4 wheels through a 4 speed automatic transmission.
While it never went into production after being shown at the 2001 Detroit Auto Show, it did show where modern 2 door SUVs could look like.
