Originally, it competed in a plain white livery and was driven by Brian Redman, Howden Ganley, Helmut Marko, Vern Schuppan and David Hepworth. 1971 Race results: Imola, driven by Brian Redman, 1st place. At the end of 1972, the entire Can Am project was sold to David Hepworth. The first planned race was to be at Interlagos, where the car was due to be driven by Carlos Pace. Unfortunately, the ship carrying the car suffered a fire and returned to Southampton.
