Used by astronauts John Young and Charles Duke during the Apollo 16 mission. This vehicle experienced a brief steering malfunction early in the mission, but operations continued after switching to backup steering.
During the second extra-vehicular activity (EVA) of the mission at station 8, John Young collided with the LRV's rear fender extension while attempting to help Charles Duke. The crew, the console, and the communications equipment were all covered by the dust that was thrown up from the wheel. This led to high battery temperatures and hence significant power usage. There was no mention of a repair attempt.
