Information
The Nazca C2 debuted in 1991 too and the C in its name is a direct reference to Group C. It was meant as an upgrade of the M12 with only the front and rear ends changing in the bodywork. It never had a proper production run because the Gulf War ended earlier that year and there was no demand for supercars.
The engine used in the C2 Coupé is an Alpina V12 engine, probably from the V12.
Italdesign was not authorised to use the BMW badge in their supercar at the 1991 Tokyo Motor Show but a BMW official questioned Fabrizio Giugiaro about that, he said they are not allowed, and the employee gave them two BMW badges to slap them on the car.
Gordon Murray was astonished that there was space in the C2 for two people in the cockpit and the luggage and spare wheel in the rear trunk.
A project of this magnitude takes around 60000 hours and the M12 and C2 supercars were entirely built in-house with support from BMW. The M12 show car and a C2 are still owned by Fabrizio Giugiaro to this day and the M12 works perfectly.
