Information
During 2007 Canadian Grand Prix, Robert Kubica contacted with Jarno Trulli's Toyota. The BMW Sauber was sent to grass, hopped and lost control. The car hit the concrete barrier at over 300 km/h, the impact was 75G. The wreckage rolled over, slid across the track, hit the barrier on the other side and stopped on its side. The front end was totally destroyed, Kubica's feet was even visible from outside.
After being sent to the hospital, Kubica was lucky enough to be found not seriously injured. He missed the next race at Indianapolis, Sebastian Vettel took his place and made his F1 debut. Kubica returned at French Grand Prix.
This chassis miraculously survived too. After flied back to Sauber's factory in Switzerland, it was examined carefully. The team decided it was repairable, but never used it again in races. The chassis was used again less than one week later at Indianapolis back in North America, as well as two upcoming races in Magny-Cours and Silverstone, but all just in practice and qualifying. This chassis was Vettel's first car in a formal F1 session.
