To mark the 30th anniversary of the original quattro, Audi unveiled the Audi quattro concept at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. Painted in 'Col de Turini White,' the show car was conceived as the spiritual successor to the 1984 Audi Sport quattro.
This applied to its compact overall length of 4.28 meters, its powertrain - a five-cylinder turbo engine producing 300 kW (408 hp) - and its low weight of around 1,300 kilograms. Each horsepower moves just 3.2 kilograms, resulting in exhilarating performance: the quattro concept launches from O to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
Unlike the 1980s classic, the Audi quattro concept features an aluminum body. Built using the typical ASF (Audi Space Frame) combination of extruded profiles, cast components, and aluminum panels, the bare body weighs only 159 kilograms - around 40 percent less than a comparable steel structure.
The hood, tailgate, and active rear spoiler are made of carbon-fiber composite.
A further developed version of this study, the Audi Sport quattro concept, was presented by Audi at the
2013 Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA).
