Information
Destroyed at 1980 South African GP. Mark Surer hit the wall at a high speed, broke both his ankles, and was trapped in the car. Marshals failed to rescue him out to the car until the team mechanics arrived to dismantle the car. It took 30 minuets to free Surer out of the wreckage. Surer's ankles were pretty seriously injured and he missed the following 3 races.
ATS modified 2 D3 old cars and called them D4s, so all real D4s have chassis numbers on their plaques equal to the real number plus 2. For example this car was the first D4 built, but it had a plaque with D4/03.
