Information

Aston Martin Jet 2+2
Full name: Aston Martin Rapide Bertone Jet 2+2

One-off design designed by Mike Robinson and renowned Aston Martin collector Berry Weir. Mr. Weir redesigned the rear end of an Aston Martin Rapide on the back of a cocktail napkin to turn it into a shooting brake style rear end. Bertone, an italian coach builder, was contracted to build the car and took three months to design. Once the back was finished, the design was frozen by Aston Martin's chief designer, Marek Reichman, who wanted Betone to use the updated front grille design. Once the new grille was integrated the Aston Martin design team made a full size clay model. After refining the shape it was hand built and completed in 2013.

Revealed to critical acclaim at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the carbon fiber and handmade aluminum body panels were painted 'Satin Tungsten Silver' with a 'Cream Truffle' interior. It features a panoramic sunroof with a dimming system, said to be in development. The rear seats fold down to increase luggage capacity but kept the same amount of leg room. Aston Martin did not want to have to redesign and change any internal proportions while also keeping the same 5.9L V12, as well as being the same 1,990kg (4,387 lb) weight as the Rapide it is based on. The only other things that were changed, other than the shooting brake rear end, are the Vanquish-style tail lights and a spoiler to help with aerodynamics.

The car was originally supposed to be a one-off that was an homage to the original Aston Martin DB4GT Jet from 1961. Once it was shown at the Geneva Motor Show, the amount of good press and requests for one Bertone received made them announce a limited run of 10 cars. This would never happen with Bertone filing for bankruptcy and going into receivership, meaning that it would stay as a true one-off.
