The car belonged to Dzhokhar Dudayev, a Soviet general who became the first president of the self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (1991-1996) and the leader of the Chechen independence movement.
Was originally delivered to Europe. Was rapidly exported to USSR, got plates there. When this country collapsed and all owners should have registered their cars again. This B10 was registered in Russia with BMW VIN (WBAHD21030BF39315)
In 2006, this auto was stolen, the thief crashed it. After that he committed suicide, as this young fellow couldn't pay back the car's value.
After the accident Alpina's body was completely destroyed. Original engine, suspension and other elements were transferred into 535i E34.
Changed several owners in Russia and was exported to Germany, where it got licence plates.
Soon after that it was brought to US, where Alpina vin was attached to 535i body. This car was offered for sale via multiple Auction houses and websites, but no luck in this sale for enterprising owner
