About
The Sultanate of Oman officially opened the Royal Automobile Museum at Al-Baraka Palace on December 10, 2024. The museum reflects Oman’s commitment to preserving its cultural and historical heritage, showcasing a remarkable collection of rare and classic automobiles, including vehicles from the royal fleet. The museum’s foundation dates back to the vision of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, who was passionate about automobiles and their historical significance. Over decades, the collection grew to include vehicles ranging from early 20th-century classics to unique, custom-made models. In 2012, a dedicated building was constructed to house these cars, and access was previously limited to official guests.
The museum houses a diverse collection of vehicles, including:
- Early steam-powered cars from the 19th century.
- Rare and unique cars, such as the Daimler Majestic from 1923, of which only two remain worldwide.
- Iconic vehicles used by the late Sultan Qaboos during state tours and national occasions.
- Modern and hybrid vehicles that symbolize advancements in automotive technology.
