Lia Maria Aguiar Foundation
Campos do Jordão, São Paulo, Brazil
About
A museum in Campos do Jordão, Brazil, will tell the country's history through a collection of 500 classic cars. Set in a 150,000 m2 plot, the 5,400 m2 building is set to become the largest vehicle museum in Latin America when it opens in June 2024.
The vehicles on display, loaned from collectors Lia Maria Aguiar, Luiz Harunari Goshima and Luiz da Silva Goshima, will help narrate Brazil's history through the lens of the automobile. Besides the classic cars, the museum will also house a restaurant and a restoration school, where apprentices are currently restoring a Ford Model T. This unique project aims to highlight the culture and history of Brazil, with the automobile playing a central role.
The museum is set to display an impressive array of classic vehicles, with standout models such as the Ferrari F50 prototype, the McLaren Senna GTR 2020 XP prototype, and the increasingly recognized Jaguar XJ220.
The museum is seen as the first professional approach to a classic car museum in Brazil and is set to leave a significant legacy, emphasizing the importance of preserving significant automobiles and establishing a restoration school. The foundation is also committed to shedding a more detailed light on the history of Brazilian automobiles.
