François Picard's Car Collection

Nice, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France
About
François Picard's cars were primarily competition vehicles used during his active racing career in the 1950s. The cars were not part of a static collection, but rather tools for international sports car racing, particularly under the Ferrari banner. They included several notable Ferrari sports racers such as the 500 Mondial, 750 Monza, 500 TR, and 250 Testa Rossa, many of which were entered in major events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Swedish Grand Prix, and the Agadir Grand Prix.
Bio
François Picard (1921 1996) was a French racing driver who competed in sports car racing and single-seater events during the 1950s. He began his career with smaller displacement cars, including a Renault 4CV, before moving on to race for teams using Ferrari and Porsche machinery. He was active in international endurance racing, participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1952, 1956, 1957 and 1958 and securing class victories at regional events such as Agadir.
Picard drove several works-supported Ferraris including the 500 Mondial, 750 Monza, 500 TR, and 250 TR, often partnering with well-known co-drivers such as Jaroslav Juhan. In 1958, he made his only Formula One start at the Moroccan Grand Prix in a Cooper, but retired following a collision. An accident during the 1958 Buenos Aires 1000 km ended his professional racing career. Picard was known for his technical skill and adaptability across different categories of racing. His involvement with competitive Ferraris places him among a select group of French drivers linked to Maranello in that era.
