Information
Specially prepared by the competition department of the factory for the 1956 season of the North American SCCA Sports Car Club of America Championship.
The SCCA championship was reserved for private teams, therefore the car was registered under the name of George Tilp, a New Yorker, but the car remained the property of Mercedes-Benz.
According to the records of the GullWing Group International, the car holds the speed record (for a 300 SL) of quarter mile start stopped, with a time of 14'7 seconds.
