Information
Gold wheels UK licenseplate (P440CPJ)
Its current location is unknown, but is believed by many to still be in Central / South America
This car has a curious history: It was ordered by Ron Dennis (CEO of McLaren at that time), at the time of delivery Ron was with his wife, but she did not like the spec and convinced him to stay with another McLaren F1 (His current F1 in Magnesium Silver color) so the rejected F1 was put up for sale where an Englishman bought it, registered it and shortly after sold it to an Italian international businessman. Now let's go to the other part of the story: In Mexico, a drug trafficker named Humberto, belonging to the Sinaloa Cartel began to do illegal business (cocaine trafficking to Europe) in large quantities and so he found the Italian businessman. It is not clear if the Italian businessman sent the car to Mexico as payment for a deal that did not go well or rather as a thank you for a deal that went very well, the only thing that is on record is that this was the first F1 to enter Mexico. What was known was that Humberto was doing well in Europe (Illegal Cocaine Trafficking) and was spending it making mansions and buying many luxury cars, thus getting the McLaren F1 to his hands... Some time later Humberto had problems with an important collaborator named Ismael, this last one ordered to kill Humberto. No one ever knew where he kept the keys of the car, nor the papers of the car, and his group was urgently looking to get the F1 because their mansions could be seized. And that is when the F1 lost track of him. There are records that someone in Mexico asked McLaren for a duplicate key, however, since they did not have the papers for the car, they could not prove ownership of the vehicle, so the key was not delivered.
Information from Ed Bolian (VINwiki): He is crazy about getting his hands on that car, offering rewards for any information that will lead to the current owner of the car.... Years went by and he never found the F1, but an anonymous contact contacted him to give him some information.
Anonymous contact: He is a person in the automotive industry and says that someone from Sinaloa contacted him to give maintenance to some high end vehicles, according to the contact he flew from Texas to Sinaloa in a private flight, once he landed they put him in a vehicle where they covered his eyes to take him to the place where he would work (He clarifies that he did NOT give maintenance to the McLaren F1). But he claimed to see it in a very neglected state, immediately asked if it was the famous car of the stories (until this moment he already knew the history of this F1), to which they answered yes but refused to take pictures of the vehicle. Ed Bolian (VINwiki) asked the anonymous contact to contact the subjects to purchase the car, however there was no response. According to the same anonymous contact the car had been taken out of Mexico not long ago, due to the conflict that happened in the capture of Joaquin Guzman Loera's son (Leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, where Humberto worked), the contact mentioned that Humberto's son is the one who had the car in these last years and due to the capture of Joaquin Guzman Loera's son, this guy was no longer with us (probably murdered), taking the car, according to the contact the F1 was taken to some country in South America (Probably Panama, Colombia, Peru, Chile or Argentina), this implying that he is no longer in Mexico.
Other information (probably false): In an interview a supposed ex-worker of Humberto, said that the F1 was still in Sinaloa, he said that they kept the car in such a way that they put it in a room and built 4 walls around it (this preventing any access to the vehicle).
